The Hub

the hub IS BACK at locate20

The Hub will be back in Locate20! Located in the Market Hall area of the Locate20 conference, the Hub offers a unique space for delegates, exhibitors, industry bodies, government, academia and non spatial experts to come together to explore the pressing problems in the geospatial sector, learn about new approaches and collaboratively identify solutions.

The Hub’s series of interactive sessions will complement the main-stage presentations by providing opportunities for more dynamic and collaborative engagement around conference themes. Sessions will range from policy and product launches, demonstrations, mini-learning seminars, networking activities, and panel Q&As; all in an intimate setting that encourages deep discussion between participants.

One of these sessions for Locate20 will be an exciting new initiative for students and early career researchers to develop their skills in industry and government engagement. On Market Day, Research@Locate will host a half-day Innovation workshop at the Hub that will provide participants with hands-on training in methods of engagement and effective pitching, and the opportunity to practice these skills with real industry experts. This unique opportunity is an invaluable contribution towards deepening relationships between research, industry, and government.

Last year’s Hub was a hit success and sparked plentiful meaningful discussion amongst conference-goers, with sessions topics including Diversity and Inclusion, Transformative Methods and Approaches, UN Sustainable Development Goals, and Inspiration. The specially designed physical layout and central location of the Hub was welcoming to delegates and encouraged high levels of participation across the board. All sessions were recorded using live scribing (visual notes captured live on the wall) and this accessible and appealing presentation of information boosted engagement across the Hub’s activities; allowing late-comers and passers-by to quickly catch up on the discussion and drawing in new participants with the visually impressive display.
